ICANN has decided to delegate Russian Cyrillic domain .РФ.

ICANN Board resolved to approve the applications for the delegation of new country top-level domains in the national languages ​​of four countries: Russia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The decision was made after the organization IANA (Technical Center ICANN) has provided to the ICANN Board concluded that these countries are fully technically ready to implement domains in the national languages.

Recall that on 19 October 2009, ICANN approved a procedure FastTrack, according to which Russia has applied for a new Cyrillic domain .РФ (Oct. 30, the first day of receipt of applications).

January 21 ICANN approved the request of the Russian Federation on the implementation of the national Cyrillic domain - ".РФ". When considering applications, ICANN conducted a two-level control of a domain name - the linguistic and technical. At the stage of linguistic control it became clear whether the domain name is specified in advance the rules of writing. Under these rules, declaration domain name should not contain Latin characters and must contain only characters in the language, which is a government for the country, which is delegated to a domain. At a technical stage, the control of the stability of the domain of the future and the ability of the country to which he delegated to lead his support and maintenance. Thus, Russia was the first country in the world to receive the right to the Cyrillic domain, and one of the four who received the first top-level domains in the national language (not in the Latin alphabet).

ICANN approved the application for the introduction of Russian Cyrillic domain .РФ meant that the new domain meets all the above-named language requirements, and the Coordination Center for TLD (www.cctld.ru) officially became its administrator.

Successful completion of the application for the introduction of a domain. ".РФ" was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Administration of the Russian Federation and all stakeholders Runeta, the important contribution of the business community, the public and the leading Russian experts in the field of internet.

Recall that under consideration at ICANN is also an application of the Ukrainian delegation to the domain УКР. In parallel with the filing of the application in Uanete started resource in support of a new domain for Ukraine , where everyone can express their opinion for the new domain.
